Great day out today at a first visit to this great Museum, had to book in advance because of Pandemic. Entry free but you are charged for parking. Full social distancing measure in place but didnt detract from enjoying the visit.
I am sure many members will know the museum well but if you have not been I can recommend it. Brought back memories of my "airfix" days Please move this post if it should be elsewhere. P.B. |
With regard to the last two photos in the previous post, I really liked the BMW badge on the engine of the WW2 German Bomber and the screen wash filler position sign on the jet fighter.

Visited last September.
Recommendation seconded. T |
I was there last October, at my Apprentice Entry reunion. It is amazing to see how it has matured since I first visited in the 1970s. The Cold War hangar is truly magnificent. It is just a shame that the old British Airways collection is no longer there, especially the BEA painted aircraft that was specially done by the BA apprentices. The experimental aircraft were good to see, having first seen them at RAF Colerne. While stationed at Colerne I was lucky to see a few of them land (HP 115, Liberator from India and the Catalina) and I was tasked with helping the crew of the Catalina when she flew in from Denmark. My oppo and I were the first servicemen to go inside her. It was a shame to see them taken out on lorries when the museum closed.
A museum well worth a visit. Dave |

Forgot to add this photo earlier. The officer was originally Connaught Rangers.
