Royal Navy Korean War

Though this is not a badge question - I am hoping that the RN experts might be able to help me.
Can anyone tell me what SHPT. 3. R.N. would have meant on a Korean War Royal Navy medal please ?
Also O.2378 - would it be orderly ? ordinary seaman ?

Thanks in advance

SHPT is Shipwright.......

Up to 1947 Shipwright (3rd class) then on 23rd January 1948 title changed to Shipwright Artificer (Shpt.Art.3)

Hi Mike,

The medal is officially impressed

O.2378 CHON. YAT. SANG. SHPT.3. RN

I am presuming it was to one of the Hong Kong enlisted RN crew.

Not my area but I wonder if the 'O' is the "Port Division" prefix indicating overseas/overseas territory ?

Quote:

consisted of a Prefix indicating their Port Division (responsible for their training, promotion and manning of ships)
Home Port Divisions included :

C Chatham
D Devonport
P Portsmouth
LT Lowestoft (W)
R Rosyth (W)
