Suspicious set of badges

Hi All,

Back again with a set of badges that I have my doubts about from my collection. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone wants any specific info or closer photos of any of them, just ask. :) Higher resolution images on Imgur here

RE and RA are fine

QGS is fine.

I don't like the lugged RAC badge as they are not the normal fittings.

RMLI

I am not sure about the RMLI cap badge, maybe a closer photo will be more revealing.

I agree with the other comments.

Definitely, the lugs are what initially made me think it wasn't good (based of some other threads here). But I wanted to be sure.

RMLI cap badge

It looks slightly miss-struck, not the best example I have seen, but would be a space filler until a better example comes along.

I like the look of it personally.

I've noticed in examples that the lugs are horizontal, I thought this one to be suspect as they ran vertically instead. What would be the reason for that? Different makers perhaps?

Thanks Rob, I kinda feel like it may have been cleaned and worn down a lot too, given the text on the continents is barely there. Out of curiosity, what makes it more likely to be a miss-struck original over a repro?

Don't get me wrong I'd prefer it to be the real deal!:D Are there known examples of these badges with lugs?

Lots that I have seen, including my own example.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Paratrooper badge? I've also posted that badge before over in the Airbourne sub-forum, but didn't get any replies on it.

Thanks to everyone who's helped so far in helping me confirm the origin of these badges.

I was going on the laurel leaves on the right hand side at the top which made me think it was slightly miss-struck.

Thanks Rob, that's really helpful. I'll keep it on show for now but it will probably go to make space for others eventually.

The patina on the para badge makes it look like it may be a silver plated officer badge. If not, I think it is ok anyway.
Cheers,
Alex

From the photographs, I would say it is a nice old example and I would be quite pleased with it.

Thank Alex, I agree that it's silver plated.

The one thing that makes me wary of it is it's dimensions, I've seen in books and online that the dimensions are 7 x 4.5 cm, however this one is 6.5 x 4. I don't know if there's variants or specific badges that would be that size or if it could be indication that it's not original.
