The mystery is why there is so little interest in this item, or am I missing something? :)

Jungle hat

Is this not the father and son “team” who were discussed on here last week?

I would not expect to see the badge on that type of hat.

The wear/fading on the hat are not matched by the SAS badge which appears to be in very good unfaded condition.

He has multiple fake items and SF especially all with lots of bids on them.

To be honest I can see why he does it if these gullible people are willing to buy his crap without doing any due diligence, or buying a reference book, or doing a bit of basic research or coming on here.

I dont have any sympathy for them I am afraid.

Fools and their money are soon parted. Not much sympathy here either.

The obvious thing about this, is that the SAS never fought in the Far East during WW2. Their first operations in that area were in the early 1950's during the Malayan conflict. At that stage they were originally the Malayan Scouts.

Apart from anything else the badge is not even a 1950's one. Apart from that it's a great piece of c---!!

Simon,

I agree. My library has saved me from many a mistake and also allowed me to grab the odd misdescribed bargain.

I do however question the moral compass of people who knowingly pedal fakes and reproductions. I suppose it was ever thus but it is disheartening how dishonest some people are.

Regards Mark

it is a fake badge added to the hat, being sold by one of the many incantations of one of our commonest sellers of enhanced items

REME 245 10-10-19 07:07 AM

This dealer features a lot on the Face Book Military Fakes and Forgeries page.

Hello,

I am new to this forum and have read the threads about this Father and son. I would like to point out that they own a museum. I am not saying everything they sell is 100% pukka, but the way they have been described on here is as if they are a couple of crooks, and everything they sell is fake, which is untrue and I think unfair. I agree that the jungle hat and SAS badge don’t look right together, but I would be interested to hear from someone who can prove to me that the badge isn’t genuine, that was sewn on to the hat at a much later date.

manchesters 12-10-19 04:14 PM

What is their museum?

regards
