Pearce & Thompson.

I have seen several small silver sweethearts with Great War hallmarks and the makers mark "P&T" These seem quite modestly priced and appear to have been made by a company known as Pearce & Thompson of Vyse Street in Birmingham. I've only obtained the one example of their work, so far, which does seem quite well made to me, and I'm wondering how P&T are regarded amongst collectors?

I have discovered that P&T made a range of regimental sweethearts, during the Great War, how many different ones, I have yet to find out. I've attached pictures of several that I have come across, mostly, unfortunately, already sold. I will, however, persevere, and, hopefully, I'll have a few more of my own to show you fairly soon.

I did have examples of this type in my collection.they are very light in weight and seem to be made of two thin pieces of silver soldered together the front being die stamped as the badge and then back plate added.the only reason I can come up with as to why they went to the trouble of doing this is the cost of silver?. Yes, Gary, the two piece construction can be clearly seen in the last image, that fact hadn't really registered with me until you mentioned it.

Well, several more P&T sweethearts have come my way, I have also managed to find a few others by different makers that I can perhaps show you elsewhere.
