Prize Badges

Hi Mick

Do you have any info' about Australian Prize Badges, as per the title of this section of the forum?

I have a few badges, made by HK, marked as being worn between 1912 & 1922.

Battalion badges with crossed rifles etc in cotton. "Brigade Champions" done in silver wire.

According to Cossum's cloth book:

They are Army Cadet badges worn during compulsory military training between 1910 and 1922 for shooting competitions.

That's pretty much all I know about them.

Thanks Mick, I had assumed that they were Militia items, so learning that they were worn by cadets is a step forward.
