From a job lot of badges. It has a worrying amount of Brasso on the back. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

It's not the 1st Bn. The Dragon is the officers pattern of the 2nd Battalion The officers badge had a scroll beneath,

It was made in brass post WW2 for ORs in what was the TA successor regiment.

Post WW2 the 1st Bn were RA wearing the 1st Bn silver wreath cap badge.

Where does this one fit in? Or is it an entirely different badge? These dragons confuse my aging mind.....what is left of it.
(pardon the photo; the sun has gone down)

That’s the standard pattern worn by all battalions in service dress prior to 1920. The photo is a little blurred but looks to be by F N (Narborough). I have a similar one which has been blackened and is still on the cap which is later than WW1 and would suggest that it was either worn by the 2nd or 3rd battalions as the 1st had changed to their later pattern by that time.

Can anyone help me towards the purchase of an Officers Service Dress badge with lugs? Failing that does anyone have a photo of the badge? Thank you.

Oi Dave!
How do you know that it’s not a Glam Yeo OSD then? after all the Glam Yeo were wearing them first.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Not saying it’s not a Glamorgan yeomanry, Bryn Owen book Glamorgan yeomanry has its as being worn c1915.The badge was worn by different Welsh regiment in ww1. I have an example in my collection,as the Monmouthshire regiment also used this type of badge. I have lots of photos of the Monmouthshire regiment wearing this badge from 1908, which I think you have seen at Yate.
Cheers,
Dave

C'mon boys.

Easiest way it just have two badges one in Glamorgan collection and one in Mons collection saves any issues. Better in Glam collection than those Mons mind you.
