Cloth Captain pips and RAF shoulder insignia.

Can anyone elaborate on these items for me.
Red Captain shoulder slip on, I assumed these would be sewn on but are embroidered.
Also a pair of RAF shoulder badges, these are on a black background, I assumed they would be blue?
Grateful for any help.
Apologies for inverted image just can't get it right. :rolleyes:
May be moving these items on.

I'm having the impression it could an early slip on with khaki backed pips; once the coloured backing were introduced (1943-ish if memory serves me well) the red pips were stiched on top of the original ones.
