RAF(possibly) sweetheart
 

I have bought a nice little homespun sweetheart shaped as the letter E with a tiny mm sized eagle on the corner. It looks very much like the RAF eagle but given the teeny tiny size of it, if RAF, what would it originally have been?

And on a not unrelated note, apart from Hobarts book on RAF badges & uniforms, is there a more comprehensive resource available? I desperately need a good reference book.

Yes Leigh, I figured the sweetheart began with an E, very intricately removed from a button though, I'll have another look.
Oh some other help please, I've stuck this thread in the Canadian section, if someone could relocate it to the right place I would be grateful.

It is Frank, Its rather sweet. Shame it isn't an A though.

A rather strange 'E'. Could it possibly be a conjoined F & L (or L & F), the initials of an RAF sweetheart?

It is an odd E but it is as clean as a whistle no evidence of it being 2 letters. Maybe he was going to add the eagle on the bottom part of the E but then something went wrong. Who knows? I like it anyway. Its a bit different.

I think I misled with the word conjoined. I never intended that the letters were in some way joined, as by solder, brazing, superglue etc. buy rather as a crafted one-piece item. The explanatory word escapes me. If one places an F on top of an L (or vice versa) and traces the outline, the resultant shape will then be the template.
