66th Punjabis Pagri Badge ?

2 Attachment(s)
I just came into possession of this well made pagri badge. It is brass, well struck, 8 cm wide by 5 cm tall, and has a very stought pin on the reverse.
Am I correct in assuming that it is 66th Punjabis or did it belong to one of the regiments (coast sepoys etc) that became the 66th Punjabis ?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

The 66th dragon, at least in Nath's WWI book, is crowned.. as is the dragon of the 62nd Punjabis.

The tail is in a slightly different position in Nath's example - more vertical - but I think this may be a pagri badge for the 74th Punjabis. Pre= or Post Great War?

Hi Peter,
I thought about the tail and have looked up Ashok's book. Actually, I think its just a variation of the 66th Badge as there may have been more than one manufacturer and so slight differences possible. if you look at 'Sepoys and Sowars' there are slight variations in the examples shown..might possibly be more.

I'll probably be meeting Ashok this weekend or next week as he's down here and will ask..

Yes, a manufacturing variation, which never occurred to me, makes perfect sense.

If you're meeting Ashok, any other suggestions I could make would be superfluous and presumptuous both! ;) But please do post an answer when you find one. Thanks.
