Does anyone have a bi-metal cap badge example of KK2351 :-

372nd (Flintshire and Denbighshire Yeomanry) Regiment, RA.

I would love to see some pics front and back please :)

Would you happen to know if the Caernarvon & Denbigh Yeo badge was simply a re introduction after WW2?

The time line I have is from :-

1922-39 = "Caernarvon & Denbigh Yeo" Cap Badge, with three loops.
1939-47 = Royal Artillery Cap Badge (Standard)
1947-56 = "Caernarvon & Denbigh Yeo" Cap Badge, with three loops (or possibly slider?) and also in A/A with slider.
1956-68 = "Flint, & Denbigh Yeo" Beret Badge, with slider and also in A/A with slider. RA Cap badge worn in the SD Cap in Blues & No2 Dress.

Also, when they became an Infantry Company of the 3rd (V) Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers did they retain their cap badge or did they have to wear the RWF Cap badge?

The note I have (taken from Norman Litchfield TA RA book) states that the 'Carnarvon & Denbigh Yeo' cap badge did not exist until it was designed in 1949.

1st Carnarvonshire RGA (V) became Welsh (Carnarvonshire) Hvy Bty RGA (TF) in 1908
1914 1st/1st Welsh (Carnarvonshire) Hvy Bty RGA (TF)
1919 Placed in suspended animation*.
1920 Denbighshire Yeo reconstituted and converted to RA
1920 Reconstituted* as 12th (Carnarvon and Denbigh) Med Brig RGA (TF)
1921 Redesignated 61st Med Brig RA (TA)
1922 Denbighshire Yeo formed three Batteries and the Bde HQ of 61st Med Bde RA (TA)
1924 Redesignated as 61st (Carnarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry) Med Brig RA (TA)
1938 Redesignated as 61st (Carnarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry) Med Regt RA (TA)
1946 Placed in suspended animation
1947 Reconstituted as 361st Med Regt RA (Carnarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry)(TA)
1956 Amalgamated with 384th (RWF) Lt Regt RA (TA) to form 372nd (Flintshire and Denbighshire Yeomanry) Fd Regt RA (TA).

1967 Reorganised to form The Flintshire and Denbighshire Yeomanry RA (T)
1969 Reduced to Cadre.
1971 Cadre transferred to become 'B' Company, 3rd (V) Bn RWF.

Therefore badges would possibly be,
1908-1917 RA with laurels upper scroll
1917-1946 & 1947-1949 Standard RA badge
1949-1956 Carnarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry badge
1956-1971 Flint and Denbigh Yeomanry badge
1971 RWF badge

Also the 69th Med Regt RA (TA) formed in 1939 as the duplicate to the 61st, redesignated in 1942 as 69th Med Regt RA (Carnarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry) (TA), suspended in 1946 disbanded in 1947.

This is what I have:-

After World War I, it had become clear that cavalry was obsolete and in 1922 it was announced that some Yeomanry Regiments were to become Royal Artillery regiments. The Denbighshire Yeomanry were one of these Regiments; they were re-roled as a medium artillery formation, and amalgamated with the 61st Medium Brigade Royal Garrison Artillery (the former Carnarvonshire Artillery Volunteers) to form 61 Medium Regiment R.A. (Caernarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry). In 1939 it formed a duplicate, unit 69 Medium Regiment R.A. (Caernarvon & Denbigh Yeomanry). They would see service in France during the phoney war (1939-1940); after the Dunkirk evacuation, they would remain in the United Kingdom until returning to Europe in June 1944 with 21st Army Group.

In 1947 the regiment reformed an artillery formation as 361st (Carnarvonshire and Denbigh Yeomanry) Medium Regiment. In 1956 this was merged with the 384th Light Regiment (formerly 5th Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers) to become the 372nd (Flintshire and Denbighshire Yeomanry) Regiment. This unit effectively ceased to exist in 1967, although it continued in name as a cadre until it was amalgamated in 1971 with the Welsh Volunteers to become the 3rd (V) Bn Royal Welch Fusiliers, in which form its lineage was continued until 1999 as a unit of the Territorial Army.

If that is true then the situation must have been that the Cap Badge was that of the Royal Artillery "Volunteers" then?

Arty is a subject far away from me...... Only ever spoke to them on Comms to tell them if they hit somethging or not.

Right..... so "bog standard" Arty badge from end of WW1 up to 1949 for the North Welsh Long Range Snipers!

What would the Officers have worn post 1949 then? Would they have worn the standard Officers Royal Artillery Cap badge..... or would they have had a silver/gilt C&DY (or F,&DY) cap badge?
