CF HQ div patch
 

I found this interesting, a throw back to the WW2 1 Cdn Corps div patch and 1st Canadian Army Headquarters, now in use by the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre (CADTC) and Canadian Army Headquarters in Ottawa.

To say that Lt General Hainse career is impressive is an understatement.

It is indeed a Ranger Tab.

As in a qualification? Eg, Lt-Gen. Hainse is a qualified ranger?

Its either a Ranger Tab or Special Forces tab, Canadians who complete the Ranger course are entitled to wear the Ranger tab. Canadian Soldiers attached to the US USSOCOM are entitled to wear the Special Forces tab.

I would like to know the history behind the wearing of the Columbian Lancero badge, very unusual?

Note that the Special Forces tab depicted in the dress regulations is incorrect, it only comes in yellow on blue.

I'm happy to see the Sapper tab is finally authorized. The course is similar to the Ranger course but for Engineers only. I have a few friends who have attended and passed and said it was a complete bag drive.

Further to the Ranger tab specifically, I know the miniature metal badge is to be worn on the short sleeve shirt and mess kit, this is the first time I see it worn on DEU pocket flap rather than the cloth tab on the sleeve.

The Americans no longer use a cloth badge, only the metal one you see here. We have had to adapt.
"DHH will work with CA on modifications to the US Army Ranger badges from cloth on the shoulder to medal on the pocket. Changes to the Sapper and Special Forces badges will be addressed at the same time. DHH and CA will work this offline."

Thanks for the links for the Lancero badge, but how did Canada originally get involved? I know the CF has had exchange course with the Americans on their Jungle Warfare course but how did we get involved with the Columbians? The Ranger course I can see as the CF has a history of working with and training with them but Columbia is a little further South than Montana lol.
