Completly Red Coloured Field Service Cap

Does anyone know which WW2 RAC unit wore a completely red coloured field service cap?

That gives me a few things to work on.

What I'm actually trying to establish is with which Regiment Ian Carmichael (the actor for those of us old enough to remember him) served before his transfer to the 22nd Dragoons as his first coloured field service cap is plain red but not badged.

Ian Gillett Carmichael (179582) went straight as an Officer cadet from either Sandhurst or 102nd OCTU into the 22nd Dragoons as a 2nd Lt. on 15.3.1941

Remained with them throughout the war and was MID. Still with them as Captain in 1945.

No other units served in.

Ian Carmichael wore a plain red coloured field service cap but with whom I am trying to confirm as I know exactly where it is (not far from the pictures of his 22nd Dragoons coloured Field Service cap I'm about to put some pictures of in the headdress section), unfortunately its not badged (nor can one make out the outline of the previous badge that went on it). When Ian Carmichael donated the caps to a friend of mine he said he had been in the RAC before the 22nd Dragoons, so I suspect he did his cadet training with an OCTU and was badged either with the 1st pattern RAC cap badge or to one of the Regimentally badged RAC Regiments, based on the dates you have kindly provided I think it more likely the former, no matter what he did wear a plain red coloured field service cap, hence my original post.

The plain red side cap was worn by recruits at the 51st Training Regiment RAC at Catterick (and quite possibly other RAC Training Regiments I expect). I have confirmed this from reading a letter written by Ian Carmichael before his death to a friend of mine who at the time had contacted Ian enquiring about his war time service as he was writing a book on the WRC Regiments.

So I now have some closure on this one as well as being in possession of both the cap and letter.

Wiltshire Yeomanry also has a red CFSC, scarlet or crimson I would guess but with gold piping.
