interwars RWF junior officer forage cap

A recent pick up from a spit lot on ebay all from the same officer in the RWF, Captain F D Williams, later Lt. Colonel who I cannot as yet find anything out about.

I got his Forage cap as well as his SD and KD tunics, missing hs BD and his SD cap.

The forage cap has a lot of early features with the spring device that allows it to be changed from a low flat top to one with a raised front, but still flat topped.
It has the early version of the RWF bullion and silver/white metal beast of Griffin form rather than the dragon common on later badges. The sweatband looks typically early with pale kid leather and lace rather than the later mid brown roan leather type. It has regimental buttons by Firmin and the thin chinstrap with pointed slider ends, another early feature.

Leigh, thanks for the info. This confirms he was actually RWF as my attempts to find him have so far failed, I have tried searching the volumes of the regimental records with no joy so far though the new two volume set for WWII only recently came out and I have yet to see it or get it.

If you can magically find his full name and/or army number & battalion number.....His KD is named to him as Douglas Williams, dropping the F.

His medal ribbon showed me he was Territorial, and his SD is named to him as a captain in 1942 and his ribbons have the oak leaf for Mention in Dispatches.
His medal ribbons include the Africa Star, where

Leigh, thanks again

I had just found his army number on the gazette and see you have beaten me to it.
