I have had this problem before trying to find the recipient of a Canadian SWB, can anybody please put mo on the right track .

( better say it is an item I won’t be keeping)

Thanks

P.

Unfortunately, this may be a frustrating search. The records are incomplete, and the ledgers only exist for some of the issue. The SWB numbers have no correlation with the service number of the soldier.

Thanks Bill,
Are any records on line ?
Peter

Hi Peter

What you have is a Class B War Service Badge. "SWB" does not apply here, it is a British Term. The # on all Canadian First World War War Service Badges does not correspond to the military member's Regimental or Service Number. Merely a badge number.

Some info on the different WSB's from Veteran's Affairs Canada: https://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/remem...ls-decorations

On the CEF Study Group, member Steve (Vimy_Pilgrim) has a number of SWB Rolls. Unfortunately for his Cl B lists, he can only ID within the foll # range:

Quote:

Class B - 60011-88771
Although he has stated that he has some other badge numbers available.

Not sure if you are a member but here is the link to the thread:
https://www.cefresearch.ca/phpBB3/vi...t=9053&p=68100

And there are some badge numbers available (not online) if you contact LAC (Library and Archives Canada). The was a thread on Great War Forum some 10 years back about the Cl A pin but there is some perhaps relevant info there for you. Are you a member there?

Good luck.
