Today's offering for a chuckle.

Greetings.

You've got to love this item:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265243920...AAAOSwRipg~8tL

I live 5 miles or so from Enfield Town Centre and have done so for the past 61 years, and I am yet to see this Regiment parading in the borough, nor can I find the barracks or depot.:D:D

And he offers a lighter coloured white metal example as well.

And I thought I knew quite a bit in relation to The London Regiment, but obviously not.:confused:

Regards.

Brian

I've just realised that this is the same dealer offering the wondrous Engineers' cap badge recently highlighted by Gerry.

Brian,
Long time, no see, but good to be able to comment on this wonderful item you have highlighted, as someone once commented about the "Herts Btn polishing pals" You chaps know your stuff.

I hope to meet up with you all in the future, Bedford or Thetford . . !

Regards Rob

Alas the same clown of a seller that’s flogging the RE badge with a button soldered in the middle for £499, discussed in another thread.

Have you not heard of the Lee Enfield Rifles? They are a very famous regiment.

Phil, That has to be the funniest statement I've ever heard. I am definitely going to have to add the LER to my badge want list. If you tell that eBay seller, I'll bet he can find me one too!!!!

Well done indeed!!!

How about this famous Regiment??

The Notts Forrest Battery, Royal Artillery.

Read the fairy story below, then look at the actual words in the 2nd photo. You have to laugh.

"This is an original deactivated example of the 1st type Martini Cavalry Carbine converted from .577x 450 to .303 calibre in 1898 by Enfield. The right side of the action is stamped with very faint Enfield 'Crown VR' and I.C.1 2 designation. The left is crisply stamped 'Crown VR HRB Co (Henry Rifle Barrel Co) 1898' together with 'M.E. 303 AC II ' Martini Enfield conversion detail. The barrel shank is Regiment marked ‘NOT FOR BATT’ most likely to The Nottingham Forest Battery."

Come on Brian, do your homework. This regiment obviously does middle of the night parades in stealth mode and it's barracks are very well camouflaged ! :)

It's not the done thing showing a rare badge like this that's for sale on eBay, now all the members know about this badge and will be bidding on it, and now I won't bag my bargain

Ha ha

A two second Google search takes you to a vintage gun site :

Quote:

‘NOT FOR BALL’ is a warning not to use solid projectiles or balls through the gun
Are dealers really that dumb/lazy/unscrupulous that they are willing to ruin their reputations for the sake of a basic check ?

Local Council/Corporation badge.

Just to confirm Mark's comment about it being a stealth regiment. I found a barracks picture of them taken after one of their stealth marches. I am sure this is a highly classified, top secret photo, so please get LER approval before sharing.
