Just been handed this button by a detectorist who searched the fields of our charity's site near Maidstone in Kent. Can anyone ID it?

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

I believe this is a Victorian General Service button used by various local and oversea regiments. I stand to be corrected.

I agree, but also often refered to as an other ranks "staff" pattern.

There is a section on page 63 of Ripleys buttons of the regular army 1855-2000 which may be refering to this pattern but there is some confusion as to "Cavalry Staff buttons" and "V.R." patterns which I never really understood.
