Canadian Parachute Corps new repro

2 Attachment(s)
A short time ago a new batch of reproduction Canadian Parachute Corps badges appeared on the market. The badges are not the same as the post war white metal badges, but are a "new" reproduction. The badge is finished in "gun metal" gray and has a slider. The die or cast is a completely different pattern than any previous reproduction. I was able to image a badge, front and back. (Thanks Moe).
Here are images of the front and back. Educated collectors will be able to easily spot this fake.

Jeesh, I guess with my negative attitude anymore....I have nothing to fear from this type of fake.

Just looks very OFF in my eyes.

Thanks from bringing this one out to us Bill

The Canadian Para badges seem to turn up all over the place - even South Africa. Here are pics ( front and back ) of some that I picked up in an old, rather unfocussed collection. The top left one is plastic. Are they any good ?

Hi natal01. Badges seem to have had an universal appeal. Some really good Canadian badges show up in Great Britain (logically enough), and Australia. Now we can add South Africa.
The badges in your accumulation are mixed lot. The top left plastic badge is a good example of the plastic Canadian Parachute Corps issue cap badge. The bottom left badge was the cap badge worn by now defunct Canadian Airborne Regiment (1968 - 1995). The two badges in the right hand of the image are both reproductions / non-issue badges.
The plastic Canadian Para Corps badge is one of the most difficult WW2 Canadian issues to find. There is a small plastic pin that came with the badge, which is almost never found.

Well, it doesn't take long for repro's to get around. Remember that this badge originally stirred up a bit of a fuss when an ebay vendor listed it as a good WW2 issue. At least this vendor is honest about the provenance. One has to wonder where these are coming from?

this one is more troubling

I'd not seen this repro before today. I am tempted to buy one so I have a sample in hand. Link here. I sure hope these things are marked on the back somehow.

That is a scary one, David. Obtaining a reference copy may be a good idea. I followed the link to their ebay store, and they have an extensive list of reproduced badges. They offer three Canadian shoulder titles that shouldn't pose any real problem to an experienced collector. These are printed 1 Canandian Parachute Battalion, and embroidered Airborne / Canada and VIII Cdn Recce / 14 CH titles. (I really don't understand why the VIII Recce is repro'd, as they are still available in embroidered pattern at reasonable prices.) There is also an odd "Canadian" parachute qualified badge they have listed as repro. It is in black embroidery on od with a red maple leaf, looking much more US than Canadian style.

The Canadian Parachutist badge may very well be original. These were sold in the Canadian Airborne Regiment kitshop. They are meant to be worn by foreign soldiers who had earned the Canadian qualification.

After looking at several posted photos of this badge i rather think that this one is probably also another copy although it has been very well struck and not like other poor quality copy/restrikes i have seen,it has a dull shiny nickle type finish.I find it rather strange that people would make a copy/fake in a different finish to the originals.Any comments on this.
Thanks.
