141RAC - Buffs flash

The accompanying photograph is of Sgt Bert Buttall, 141st Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps - many thanks to his son Philip for his permission to post the photo.
The photo is of Bert and Sylvia on their wedding day 13 March 1944. I thought it would be of interest since it shows the wear of the Buffs buff/blue flash (BoBD 1443) in early 1944, note only on the right sleeve. There is also a terrific puzzle - it looks like he is wearing the RTR arm badge but from what I can glean of his service he had no relationship with the RTR. He joined up in July 1940 straight into the 7th Bn which was to become 141RAC so was a Buffs soldier throughout his wartime career. He served in the Intelligence Section of RHQ and became a Wireless Operator. On the slight enlargement you can see from the top - RAC shoulder title; (looks like no RAC AoS being worn on either sleeve); Buffs flash; RTR arm badge or what else could this be??; sergeants' stripes. Any thoughts on how he could be wearing the RTR badge? John |
I can only suggest that the 141 wore the tank badge as they considered themselves armoured and did not see the badge as RTR.
