I rently bought this w/m RE badge. It looks 100% genuine. K&K show a EVII version but the Gv ones have the extra volunteer title on the scroll. Could this be a RE early GV volunteer badge that K&K chose not to show? It is proper w/m with a brass slider and has not been plated or chromed.

Alan,
have been looking through Capt Daybells book on insignia of the RE. Cannot find the GV refered to but there is mention of an unofficial GVI wm badge worn by the 6th Armoured Engineers and their succesors worn in the black beret from 1941-1949 when it was disbanded. The booklet however does state that its subject matter relates purely to Regular units and not Vols and militia. I would suspect it would be a volunteers badge however.

Cheers, Dave

Dave, can you give any information on this book please?
There is a current thread that mentions it but I have not heard of it before and would like to know more or find a copy.

Cheers,
Jerry
