I would welcome comments as to this badge.
It is cut out of thin brass sheet and hat two pillar-type lugs at back. Would it be a made-up item or did this unit have such badges made out of the material mentioned? Thanks for any asistance GTB |
Railways and Harbour Board ???

The unit is "Railways & Harbours Brigade", a WW2 formation. Postwar badges made of brass, however My query is mainly focussed on the type of brass used- whether thin sheet or more solid metal.

Always helps when you expand an acronym or abbreviation!

Tim, you are correct. I copied the abbreviations as they appear on the badge and assumed that SA collectors would identify the unit straightaway.
Milmed, thanks for a detailed and most useful response. I am enclosing a pic of the back to show the 'pillared' fastenings. GTB |

Hi Dudley,
I believe the bi-lingual title to be war time and the single title 1stRHB and 2ndRHB were worn in the 1920's. But I could be mistaken. There was also a large title RHB that could be from the early period of the unit. Regards Steven |
Hullo Steven
Many thanks for the date correction of the shoulder titles. Cannot remember now but think that I got them from Curzons book. Will have another look. It needs to be right. Kind regards Dudley |
No worries Dudley
