He appears to be wearing a South African Mounted Rifles cap badge. Presumably he was seconded to the SANLC.

Sorry abvout the quality of the photo,it seems someone at the IWM,in the photographic dept., was too lazy to post a full size photo....

Is it not a SA Mounted Rifles badge? Not SALH?
Cheers,

Good heavens, I think it can be said with rather more than a degree of certainty, that he is not wearing an SALH badge!

Did anyone suggest he was wearing a SALH badge?

Alex Rice 25-04-17 10:16 AM

Do I need my eyes tested or was I imagining something...

Frank Kelley 25-04-17 12:57 PM

Perhaps I had misinterpreted this?

I could have sworn the original post said he was wearing an SALH cap badge, must be imaging things...:D:o

Ah.. That explains it. I thought I had missed something somewhere.
I was just surprised to see the chap wearing the SA Mounted Riflemen badge on his cap as all the pictures I've seen before officers att'd to the Native Labour Corps always wore the normal "goat-in-porthole" badge.
