Chatham House College OTC

A photo from 1911 showing Chatham House school cadet corps who were briefly an OTC between 1908-11. The school closed in 1917.

Prior to 1908 the school cadets were affiliated to the 1st VB (later 4th Bn) Buffs but the cap badges appear to the RWK to my eyes.

Afternoon Alan,
An interesting photo of a short-lived corps. Michael's bookshop has published a number of booklets relating to Ramsgate and neighbouring towns during the wars.

In WW1 the college became a Canadian military hospital during which time it was bombed injuring a number of patients, and then I believe it housed German POWs possibly as a deterrent against air raids. It reopened after the war as a boys grammar school until about ten years ago when it merged with the local girls grammar school (which my sister attended).

The Army & Navy Illustrated published an article about the cadets though it predates the OTC having appeared in the 15th March 1902 issue, I've attached a couple of pics from the article.

All best

Ps it does look like the RWK badge
