Cavalry arm badge?

I bought this with a number of cap and pouch badges and am selling the ones outside my collecting sphere or where I have duplicates.

Can anyone confirm what this badge is?

It's 5 cm high so much larger that a cap badge.

Brass with a vertical pin and eye fitting.

Can’t tell you what it is I’m afraid but I can cut that field down by one and say it’s definitely not Royal 1st Devon Yeomanry.

It came with a 15th/19th cap badge so it may be one of theirs?

I recall Julian posted a similar badge belonging to a relative who served in WW2 https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=77702 (realise there will be a lot of ‘similar’ badges).

May well be mistaken but I think on another thread he showed the back and the pin had a similar look to the pagri style one like yours so I wondered if it was actually the original fixing.

The central device on 15th/19th Hussars badges is a lion and crown so certainly a possibility. Hopefully a cavalry guru and Julian can chip in.

All the 15H or 15/19H arm badges that I am aware of were in WM or silvered.
I don't know what to say beyond this.

A version was worn on Staff Armlets by War Office Staff

Shown in CCN 1949 as CB1778 Royal Crest GM Gilt for War Office Staff Armlets

Tim

That's close but not a match. Judging the scale by the poppers I beleive that this one is much larger as its 5cm high.

Alan,

Possibly a 15/19H pouch badge.

If you are moving it on I would be interested.

Regards

Chris

Looks like an early South African staff officer cap badge. Forum member milmed would be the best to confirm I think.
Cheers,
Alex

Tony

Thanks for confirming that. It is certainly too big for a cap.

Alan ,

Attached photo of my example, this is in my 15th Hussars collection . Measurements tip of lions crown to bottom of crown is 61 mm , width is 34mm

Not 100% sure but believe it’s possibly band pouch badge
