Brass ARP Badge
2 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
I've just picked this ARP badge up and was told that the fact that it's made in brass indicates it's a 1938 pattern. Does that sound right? It's the same size as the more usual silver and white metal version. Michael |
The badge was designed and first issued in 1937 in hallmarked silver so the date of 1938 has little significance.
Also 1938 hallmarked silver badges can be found and I have never seen a brass one. regards |
Traces of the original silvering remain on the back. This badge was made in brass and then coated with a silver plating.

Looking at the recesses on the crowns reverse was yours perhaps silver plated originally? Most of which is now gone.

Thanks a lot everyone, I hadn't heard of them being plated, so does this help date it at all?
