i have this First World War Mothers’ and Widows’ Ribbon/badge.
i'm trying to research the recipient.
i think the number is 18467
any help appreciated.
im also looking for any of these that may be surplus to your needs

The First World War Mothers’ and Widows’ Badge was issued to the mothers and/or widows of members of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) or the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force who were killed in action, died of wounds or other causes while on active service, or after discharge died of wounds or sickness directly attributable to their service.

The black ribbon was machine-embroidered in gold with wattle sprigs, a Rising Sun badge, and the words "For Australia". The badges were suspended from a white metal bar which bore laurel leaves. Stars were added to the bottom bar, each indicating the death of one man. The badge was promulgated under Military Order 64 of 1919.

The Navy also had a similar one but with a Fouled Anchor instead of a Rising Sun. I don't have either but do have photos of the Naval one taken at the Cerberus Museum. They also have a brass returned from Active Service badge with a Fouled Anchor.

Australian government website NAA - they have digitised books for the recipients for badges like return service, female relative, mothers and widows ECT. When I can get to my other computer I can send you a direct link. These books can be downloaded as a PDF, so far they have over 100 digitised.

Yes, I've found that some of my searches have been "cut short" by a few digits too.
A very strange one that turned up was an Australian SWB in the 94000 range. Badge was issued on 12/1/1968 (yes, 1968!!!).

The 26 Btn man's file had a "letter" that looked as if it had been written on a shopping list asking for "the wounded medal" [quote]. They sent it to him...

I have another that is in the A 99000 and I'm picking that this will be the same "late claim".
