Unknown naval officer's badge

I've had this badge for around 50 odd years and still haven't pinned down the crown, even with Google help! Must be missing something. May be from a former Commonwealth member state, eg Malaysia. Beautiful bullion embroidery

Yes, definitely Imperial Iranian Navy officers cap badge.
As I said, had it for 50 odd years. In fact, at the time i acquired it (70s) Iran was modernising its navy and purchasing ships and armaments from Britain. Naval officers would be assigned on board RN ships for familiarisation etc. A crew member friend of mine on HMS Fearless acquired the badge for me but didn't identify its previous owner's nationality. I wonder what happened to him (previous owner) after the Revolution!
