4th/7th DG collar badges in late WW2

Having recently read an account by a 4th/7th DG Trooper who was with them at DDay up to VE day, he gives an interesting account of why the regiment wore collar badges on its BD at a time when they were no longer authorised for issue.

According to him the regiment looted a quantity of wines and sold them in Brussels and used the profits to purchase collar badges to be issued by the regiment.

I am not sure whether the wine sales was the source of the funds but it does explain that they were a regimental purchase and issue.
