Can I start the ball rolling with 2 volunteer/territorial buttons from Liverpool.

The first is a silver plated victorian button of the Liverpool Press Guard ( 80th Lancashire R.V.C. ) which shows an old printing press.

The second is a QE2 crowned anodised button of the Liverpool Irish worn pre 1967.
Apologies for the quality of the pictures.

An Oxford University Volunteer Rifle Corps button which is said to have been worn by the donor in South Africa until he joined the 43rd Light Infantry as a member of the Volunteer Company.

Has anyone ever seen a large tunic button for these units with a KC,I've been told that Gaunt's book only have the 20 line button listed for the British Columbia Dragoons,Also I have never seen a large KC button for the 15th Alberta Lt. Horse. Here are the two in 20 line size(that's the medium size) about 19 mm or 5/8 " Ray

I had not noticed this thread before. The one on the left is a University of Dublin (now known as Trinity college) OTC button 1910 - 1922. In 1922 3 of these cost 2 pence. I have a copy of "A Military History of the University of Dublin and it's Officer Training Corps" and it gives this detail along with the cost of the cap badges and titles. I would bet money that the one on the right is A button of the University College Dublin (still called UCD today - different from Trinity) OTC established in 1929 and disbanded in 1934 when it was subsumed into the Regiment of Pearse, note the crown is gone and the harp is a Tara or Brian Boru design (thus a free state military formation) - two very desirable buttons. Feel free to post this if you think it is of interest to the forum.

I need to make a minor correction re the cost of the Dublin OTC buttons, On formation of the corps in 1910, 3 of the large buttons cost 2p, bronze cap badges were 4 p each, white metal cap badges were 6p each, shoulder titles were one shilling per pair. I erroneously gave 1922 as the date for this bit of trivia.

Source is "A Military History of the University of Dublin and its Officer Training Corps," Willoughby, Roger, The Medal Society of Ireland Special Publication no.1, 1989

Today the cap badge would set one back about GBP 350 or so.
