Some badges for Id

This is the collection... Is it OK to post some pics here? Is there a better place in the forum?

Steve is asking for confirmation of id's and id's for badges not id'd on the boards.

Siac 02-10-15 08:48 PM

Hi All,

Thanks for looking. I inherited the collection and the green writing is my attempt to ID what I could. Very possibly wrong in many ways, just a newbie.

All advice and comments gratefully received.

They look 50 - 50 good/fake at first glance.
We need to see the rear of the badges I'm afraid.

regards

Badges for ID

Hi Steve

To get the identifications started.
Picture 1 Badge 1 - 4th and 5th Battalions The Royal Scots.
Badge 3 - The Black Watch post 1952 not 9th HLI.
Badge 4 - The Glasgow Highlanders (Highland Light Infantry) post 1939
Badge 7 - 5th Volunteer Battalion Highland Light Infantry.
Badge 12 - The Highland Light Infantry regular pattern 1902 - 52.

I am sure the rest will be sorted out for you soon.

Eric

You have a great start into the world of badge collecting.I
Wish I could have been so lucky. This is the right place to start. All badges can be identified by taking your time and using the search function on the forum. There is a wet of info on each and every badge you have shown. Many will be good and there will be many that are not. But I think you will find out that is the fun of this hobby.
Hope you will join all of us on this fascinating journey..

Hi Steve,
I agree with others, a great lot of badges to start with but some may not be genuine originals.
One correction: "Grenadier Guards" badge is actually Royal Marine Artillery.
Good Luck, Tinto

Great collection I have some of them but the 19th PWO Hussars (elephant) is a copy, please check my previous post on this badge. So sorry.

Steve,
Sorry to disappoint from the start, but without even viewing the backs the majority of the collection appear to be reproduction items with a small amount of originals in amongst them?

Sorting the wheat from the chaff is difficult for viewers when there are so many. It would make life easier if you put them in an album, and you indexed them in some way! For example Card A and a number next to each badge?

Best Regards

Andy

Ok, indexing is clearly a must. I like the look of most of them, fake or not, would be nice to know any greats and horrors of course.

Thanks!
