Identification of regiment required
 

Can anyone identify the regiment in the attached photo of my grandfather who enlisted during WW1?

He was from Surrey but lived in Sussex.

To get things started, the cap badge appears to be that of the Royal Ordnance Corps, 1919 pattern.

He looks like a Driver with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.

If you supply his full name and date of birth we can look up his MIC and Attestation papers if they still exist.

Welcome to the Forum Andrew, this cap badge was adopted & Sealed in November 1918, but first issued in 1920-1921.

Thank you to everyone for identifying the cap badge as the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. That's a marvelously quick response. His name was Walter Herbert Newland, date of birth 7 March 1885.

Post 1919 Royal Army Ordnance Corps. He wears the trade badge of a wheelwright on his right sleeve above his Lance-Corporal's rank chevron, two overseas service chevrons on his lower right sleeve and medal ribbons for the British War Medal and the Victory Medlal.

Passed what I found via PM, which was not much apart from his MIC and Medal Rolls with a disembodiment date in 1919. Had no luck with Attestation Form, did you find him?

Thank you for that and for your searches. I did find the Medal Index Card record on Ancestry last night. It was a great help to know his regiment. Now of course I can see AOC on the shoulder of his uniform. No further information at present.
