Bravo BC!

Clearly, those materials are quite historically important. I do hope that they end up preserved in a museum collection in due course.

The sample of the First Armoured Regiment is only the second period manufactured specimen I've ever seen... the few others that I've seen in circulation have invariably been repros. The 3rd 4th Cav is another that is normally only seen in its repro form... so it's nice to see a period made sample being documented. Of course, the same can be said for many of the others... a pristine PNGVR title is very nice to see and the Australian Army Medical Women's Service is rarely seen... as are the Red Cross items :)

It never ceases to maze me that the ADF does not preserve its procurement information more thoroughly. It's left to enthusiasts like us to make any real attempt to do that. If you have the time to take clear images the production numbers and any date information on the scarce and or more commonly faked items, that would be valuable information I am sure. I find that slapping sheets on a scanner can be a good quick way to deal with curling papers and depth of field or focus issues with written details (especially handwriting).

In any event... nicely done and thanks for sharing that!

Mark,
Can you please elaborate on your comment:
'The sample of the First Armoured Regiment is only the second period manufactured specimen I've ever seen... the few others that I've seen in circulation have invariably been repros.'
I'm curious to know what is unusual about that particular title.

MMMMM... I stand corrected!

I was so enthralled about seeing manufacturing/original samples of the 8th/13th VMR and the 3rd/4th Cav rockers, all of which we know have been faked over the years... that in my enthusiasm, I've misremembered the First Armoured as a 1st Cav Regiment as I typed my post.

Just a case of 'Old Timers disease' and over enthusiasm I'm afraid. The 1st Cav Regt title being such a scarce period-made item to find, given the brief period in which it was issued/used.

None of that detracts from how important the manufacturing numbers and paperwork are for validating many of those items as a benchmark for others circulating in the wild, or tucked away in collections:)

Thanks for picking up my gaff!

Yours in collecting and in writing

Cheers, Mark -- easily done (especially when you get to my age!:()

I had a sense that you meant First Cavalry and not First Armoured.

Mark Corcoran 20-08-18 01:13 PM

Yes... you were 'right on the money' then... both about my gaff AND about getting old :)

Regards

All of that specification info is blooming marvelous. I've seen some of the rocker specification specs come up for sale via a dealer in Brisbane recently... it's obviously important that sort of material gets preserved (the Army doesn't seem to do so on its own).

Thanks for sharing that too... I'm sure a lot of people here are keen to see it.
