Hi all, anyone help with the identification of this item? Presume it is naval, don't recognise the crown.

I think this may be an Imperial German naval shoulder board. I think the numerals indicate the Sea Battalion, so perhaps a marine?

Thanks everyone, See Battalion VIII, straps changed to grey in September 1914, dating this shoulder board to WWI.
