I received this today.

Lethbridge Highlanders sweetheart, unfortunately the guy I bought it off cleaned it before sending it :(

The back is marked CF Black Co, does anyone recognise this maker?

Thanks again, Bill

Hi Bill, The maker is D.E. Black.

Hi Bill,

I suspect that the impression may not be clear, it is likely to be D.E. Black Co. of Calgary.

The badge presumably predates 1920 as in that year D.E. Black Co. was incorporated into Henry Birks & Sons and the firm was restyled under the Birks name. Of course there is always the possibility of the later use of earlier dies that were made with the D.E. Black Co. name.

Trev, as a CEF badge, it would predate the date the Battalion was disbanded, or likely by the end of the First World War.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for the information.

Thanks for the replies gents.

My mistake on the markings, it was indeed DE Black Co, I didn't have my glasses at work with me ;)

I did think it would be around the end of WW1. Another one for my CEF collection :)

Thanks again guys,

Bill :) :)
