Palestine Cloth Title

Hi, does anyone know who, where and when regarding this title? I have looked through Johns Badges on Battlesdress and cant find this title in the book ( although the huge amount of info in there means I may have missed it) so any help would be appreciated,
Gary

Title PALESTINE

Possibly locally made and worn unofficially by some element(s) of 6 AB Div in Palestine 1945-1948?

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the answer, stumped me really as to its origins, so thats a start for the research, Gary

Just bumping this....I haven't been able to find anything online regarding Mike's suggestion, would anyone be able to add to this? Sometimes physical books have much more than online resources so in no way discounting Mikes input.
Or have a separate theory on it's use?
Thanks

Hi Michael, not at the moment, I bought it as fitting in to my Palestine theme, but where it eventually sits might put it outside the theme, if ot does I'll let you know
Thanks Gary

It is red, same shade as the Poland titles, a very fine felt/wool mix, there are a set of small holes all around indicating it has been on a uniform.
I don't think its Police related, but obviously nothing is definitive, but its not mentioned in Hornes book on the PP.
Thanks Gary

Hi,
Thanks...would this be before the pale blue versions? I did think Palestine Regiment at first but when I couldn't find an example in red, it made me think otherwise? Are there any images of it being worn?
Thanks Gary

It could be that these were used as supplementary titles for the Palestine Infantry Companies worn under the parent unit title. Brass epaulette titles were used for the Buffs and RE so it's possible there was a cloth version approved.

I've only seen a few red ones but I believe they have all been straight and not arced like the blue Palestine Regiment titles.

When I was a collector, many moons ago, I had a Palestine Regiment cap badge that came with a pair of the red titles and I was told they were worn together.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies, I think to sum up then Palestine Regiment, pre-Palestine pale blue, which does put them in my theme, now I'll hunt for a picture of them being worn.
Many thanks to everyone for their time and effort, all the best Gary

I came across this example while looking, I can't find any photos of a Palestine patch being worn.

One other theory to throw out, British officers or servicemen serving the in Palestine Regiment.

Steve
