Australian Engineers Badge - Info Required.

2 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,
Recently I acquired this Australian Engineers badge, I was curious as to what period this item would be dated to. Could it possibly be First World War?

I had great difficulty trying to find one on the internet anywhere so could this possibly be quite a rare badge? What would be the price for such a badge like this?

The condition of the badge is displayed below in the two photos attached.

Any thoughts, information or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jacob

I am not an expert on overseas Engineer badges especially collar badges but I would guess this to be post 1952 Officer collar badge.
I maybe wrong.

Private purchase officer's collar badge to the Corps of Australian Engineers 1930-36, and Royal Australian Engineers (Militia) 1936-42.

These also appear with 9 flames and the black lacquer suggests that it is post-December 1939.

No idea of value, they turn up on ebay from time to time.

G'day Jacob

Jeff Cossum in his white covered, 1930 to 1942 book, book 1 shows this collar at the top right of page 34 and the comments re the collar state
" Design, Different design to hat",
"Collar shown is officers" and it looks to be the same as yours.
"Collar badges are known (but not illustrated) to exist to this unit that are identical to hat"
The book was published in 1982 and the collar was valued at $10.00

I hope that this helps.

Regards Phil.
