Connected to Major General, Brigade of Gurkhas ?

Quote:

The Major General Brigade of Gurkhas (MGBG) has been the headman to look into its affairs, both operational and administrative. His task is delegated downwards to the Commanding Officers through the Field Brigade Commanders for operational roles and through the Brigadier/ Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas for all other non operational roles, such as religious affairs, administrative affairs, grant of family permission and welfare etc

Wouldn’t a Major General have more pips?

I was thinking more about the Major General's office staff , he has/had an ADC and some were Captains but could there have been a Major ?

"The article was written by Captain Antony Wakeham of our 1st Battalion, at the time ADC to Major General the Brigade of Gurkhas
".

I think the correct name was Govenor's Body Guard Madras, which would then give GBGM.

He did not mean to say it shows a Major General, but it perhaps shows a major belonging to (the staff of) the Major General Brigade of Gurkhas.

That makes more sense ! A rare thing then if that's what it is.

You are right about the designation but the slide is indeed of the Madras Governor's Body Guard. The Viceroy's Body Guard traditionally wore the title GGBG. Following the same fashion Madras wore MGBG. Bombay, oddly enough, wore the title GBBG.

Please see attached image of the metal title for the Madras BG.

Very interesting. Thanks for this clarification.

Corrigendum: The GBBG title was worn by the Bengal Body Guard not Bombay. See attached image of the metal title. Apologies for the error.
