Hi, I recently got this badge, any Idea what time frame and was it usual to polish down the lower wing or just one persons individualism? Thanks in advance and a happy New Year to you all, best wishes Mike

I would say one person's individualism as I haven't seen one like that before.

Agreed. Soldiers sometimes did unique polishing jobs to highlights for effect.

Are the wings polished?

To me it looks as if the left hand wing has been overlaid/filled with something and left to harden, but not so apparent on the other.

I believe you are right. Both wings and apparently the chest have had silver solder like overlay put on, for what reason I cannot fathom.

Hi Brian, well spotted, it does appear to have a silver/ silver solder overlay which has been polished. I'll keep it in the collection as an oddity-vive la difference, thanks to all and best wishes Mike
