A simple guess - Trench Mortar - but you'll have thought of that already. The badges are post WWI manufacture?
One of the not known in Edward's and Langley"?

I was told these were for Royal Engineer "TRACK MAINTENANCE" but who knows ??
It is shown in Edwards & Langley but is unidentified. I am still looking for these to add to my RE collection.

In Darby Whitebone's book Canadian Army Trade and Qualification Badges lists these as British Trench Mortarman.

Neither of the 2 variations I have are of WW1 production and there was an official Trench Mortar Badge.
