Hi can anyone tell me if this is a New Zealand ATO’s badge going by the style of the surrounding wreath I think it is but it’s out of my collecting sphere.
Sorry for the iffy photo.
TIA
Graham

Royal New Zealand Army Logistic Regiment ‘Flaming A’ qualification badge. Awarded to Ammunition Technical Officers (ATOs) and Ammunition Technicians (ATs) on meeting the required qualification criteria.

In June 1971 the NZ Army Ammunition Trades, then part of the Royal New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps (RNZAOC) adopted the British pattern 'Flaming A' qualification badge for ATOs and ATs.

The “A” in the New Zealand badge had little to do with Ammunition but was chosen to represent that the ammunition trade was one of the army “A” Class trades and that was identified by the “A” on the qualification badge.

The badge was modified in 1988 to include fern fonds to give it a significant New Zealand Character.

When the RNZAOC was amalgamated into the RNZALR in 1996, the use of this badge was carried over to the RNZALR.
