Hi All
Is this a collar badge for KEH? I don't know much about collars but assume it must be one. Thanks. Cheers, Alex |
Alex,
A collar for 2 KEH which is a different unit from KEH. Certainly looks like it. Have the loops been replaced? Garry |
Hi Garry
Thanks. It's possible that the lugs have been replaced, it was a good job if they were though. Cheers, Alex |
G'day Alex
That is a monster of a collar dog at about 40mm high, however the hat badge that I have is 60mm high and 45mm wide, so I would think that it follows, my hat has a slider and yours has lugs so again Id say its a collar. The 2nd KEH badges are much larger than 1st KEH, the 1st hat is 58mm high by 35mm wide, however the collar is much smaller at 25mm high by 18mm wideand my collar has lugs. However the collars book only shows one for the 1st and none for the 2nd. I hope that this helps, Phil. |
Hi Phil
It was because of it's size that I asked the question. I thought it may have been a side cap badge or something like that. Cheers, Alex |
Alex
I have 2KE cap badge of this size (39 mm) with a slider 47 mm long! i.e.pagri style. Cheers Bill |
They were raised in 1914 and served in UK and France before disbandment in1917. Therefore no requirement for any FSH or pagi badges. Likewise only peaked caps were worn and no side caps as far as I can find any record of.
There was a reserve Sqn which survived the 1917 disbandment of the main regt but that was in Ireland. That Sqn was subsequently enlarged and then the regt finally disbanded again in 1924. I beleive the collar badges were the KEH/KODR initials and not reduced cap badge designs. Alan Some 2KEH in Khaki http://www.rcmpveteransvancouver.com...4-WW-I_web.jpg |

Hi
Can someone explain the size difference in these two 2KEH badges please? I had thought that perhaps the smaller was a collar badge de-lugged and slider-ed but there is no evidence of lugs. I'm trying to decide which is appropriate to my WW1 Canadian Cavalry Brigade display. Any help appreciated. :D regards Darrell |
It's an old badge from the 1970s. Spurious and not contemporary.
|
Hi Alan
Thank you for that. Out of the UK, I presume. Were they based on collar badges, do you know? Sorry to hear that it is no good but still, I have the larger. :) regards Darrell |
Collar bagdes were not supposed to be worn during the war.
In my opinion its a fake based on a picture of a badge and faked in the wrong size. |
Hi Alan
Again, my thanks. I failed to see your bit about believing that they had used KEH style. I had seen that it was similar to the badge shown in the first post and had to ask. regards Darrell |
This is my mates Web page relating to the KEH some of you may find this interesting.

What a great page, thanks for sharing. Lots of great Info & photos. Regards Phil |
Hi Phil
Thanks for that. I had seen the site and it does look to be a fine one. Perhaps I'm missing something though; is there 2KEH info there? regards Darrell |
