Looking For The Following Badge Manufacturer(s)

Hi Guys,

Looking to discover a few badge makers:

Lancashire Fusiliers
Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) (Tudor)
Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own) (Tudor)
Royal Warwickshire Regiment
Somerset Light Infantry
South Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Volunteers) (Small)
Gurkha Signals (one piece badge)
Staff Band, Brigade of Gurkhas
Royal Army Chaplains Department (Christian)
Royal Army Chaplains Department (Jewish)
Royal Army Service Corps (Tudor)
304th (Essex Yeomanry RHA) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery (TA) (Large) (St. Edward)
372nd (Flint & Denbigh Yeomanry) Royal Artillery, TA
Royal Scots Fusiliers (Tudor)
War Department Constabulary
War Department Fire Service (Scroll "ARMY FIRE SERVICE")
Aberystwyth University O.T.C.
Cambridge University U.T.C.
Nottingham University U.T.C.
Queens University, Belfast O.T.C (Silver)
Saint Andrews University O.T.C.

All these badges were officially authorised for issue in A/A. This of course does not mean to say that they were actually manufactured.

Please note OTC and UTC designation for the University badges.

If you have any in your collection please have a look at slider marks and/or cast marks to the body. Don't forget to check under the slider too.

If badges are lugged photos will help or contact me and I will talk you through identification of the maker via the lug design.

Regards

Chris

Chris,
I've got 99% of the badges in your list, alas this weekend is short and stacks to do! I'll have a bit more time at the end of next week, so I'll watch the thread and fill in any gaps that I can! These two were at hand, so photos attached!

Army Fire Service - Lugged
Fire Service W.D. - Firmin Vert Shank

Paddy,
I may be wrong, however are you sure yours is a Cambs UTC (and not OTC) as this badge would have been worn before LB&B started making badges for the British Army?

Hi Guys,

Great response!!!

Engr9266 and Andy - now this War Department Fire Service (Scroll "ARMY FIRE SERVICE"). These lugs are the only ones that I have not yet been able to ID. Note that the end of the feet are square like a chisel. I think they are by Dowler but still cannot confirm.

Paddy - Thanks for the makers - yes, unless LB&B are upto their old tricks it should be OTC as Andy says.

Andy - if you get a mo please add to the list.

Most Appreciated!!!

Regards

Chris

You're right, my badge is Cambridge OTC, I couldn't find Cambridge UTC Anodised in K&K so assumed wrongly that it should be OTC.

Chris

It's not LB&B getting up to their old tricks, just me up to my old tricks and not reading the thread fully.

On another note, my Fire Service (WD) is the same as the one posted by Andy but my Army Fire Service badge is quite different from Andy's & Jerry's on the reverse side. The back of the crown and lugs in particular. Picture below

Hi Paddy,

My list is at authorised for issue and it is quite possible that some badges there were never made.

RE; your photo - those look like Gaunt lugs - can you provide an angle shot of them?

Just to confirm - this is for the War Department Fire Service (Scroll "ARMY FIRE SERVICE")?

Hi Mike,

I have the same and again this is another lug I have not identified which on reflection makes two. I believe these lugs though are also used on genuine HLI (Tudor) badges so they are from a very early maker.

Hi Alan,

I have both these in Royal Warwickshire and Rifle Brigade (Tudor) with unmarked sliders - are you able to post rear views so that I can reconcile the sliders.

Regards

Chris
