Is there anybody who could help me in deciphering the Arabic writing on this cap badge? I guess is a colonial, maybe French Lebanese cap badge, since the maker is Arthur Bertrand, Paris... any hints? Thank you in advance for your kind help!

This badge is for the 2ième Bataillon de Chasseurs Libanais and the motto says in French "Fort Comme l'Arbre" (Strong like the Tree), this pattern was created around 1935.
In case you wanted to know....this pattern is worth about 80 to 100 Eros....always depending who is selling......

Hello Voltigeur, thank you so much for your help: I've bought it in a mixed lot comprehensive of other odd cap badges (French, Polish, Italian, Cyprus RGT etc.) so I guess I have not paid it much more than 6-7 GB Pounds... :D

Glad I could help and good for you on your buying...

Interesting badge to the 1ère Compagnie du 63ème Bataillon de Chars de Combat...this unit was based in Beyrouth....not an uncommon badge but still a very good one for someone interested in the France's pre-war period.....you can still find this one on Ebay from 40 Euros to about 60 Euros.......a good find..

These are regimental badges rather than cap badges.
Usually worn on the breast.

Hi Luca, they are both cast copies. That is not all bad news, they were sometimes made locally. I'll try to post a pic at the weekend, best wishes Mike

Hello Mike! It is just what I thought... but still a couple of weekend have passed, in the meanwhile!

Hi Luca, I do apologize, maybe next week now, Mike

Hi Luca, sorry for delay. I don't actually have the 1/63 only the 63rd and 2/63, but I think you can see what I mean. The Lebanese tank badge I've included to show how badge designs are perpetuated. The other two are the only artisanal type badges I have, again I think you can see the differences in manufacture. Hope these help, Mike

Hello Mike,

Nice badges.

As you must already know,

40th RANA (Regiment d'Artillerie Nord -Africain) seems to be a local made from North Africa in 1943.

5th Regiment de Cuirassiers (Polish eagle) is from Indochina post ww2.

Best regards .. Herve
