I would appreciate thoughts on these two i picked up recently.Regards Phil.

The one on the right without maker name is certainly good. I also think the Armfield one is probably good as well, even though I have never heard of the name before.

Maybe Armfield made badges but they´re better known as a button maker.
|
Th Armfield example is a fake... Repro badge with a False Makers Mark. The other is 100% OK! IMO

Phil,
It may just be a reflection or something, but are you able to say what the odd-looking marks are on the Armfield badge? (Highlighted below)... Attachment 33860 Cheers, Peter. |
Thank you gent's i will sell the 'armfield ' as a repro. Phil.

Between the red lines - those are die flaws and they look like they have been caused by the die spliting hence extra material entering the split and appearing as a 'positive'. Regards Chris |
Sorry Peter missed that , i think Chris has answered your question.Phil.

Gents,
Firstly, agree with the comments above. Secondly, Armfields certainly did make badges, but the only one I have ever come across has a very different makers mark (which is why I agree)! Attached is a Derbyshire Home Guard VTC badge, made by Armfields, although the more common version was made by Fattorini; Bosleys sold a similar one in 2007. Season's best, Tim |
