Canadian Made Pegasus Patch

2 Attachment(s)
I have an embroidered Pegasus patch that I have always considered suspiciously.
Attachment 237354 Attachment 237355
However, it looks relatively close to two examples presented in Ken Joyce's book. They are described as Canadian-manufactured patches with the embroidery sewn through a black cotton backing material. Ken indicates that these badges could have been made around the summer of 1945 by companies like Stanley A. Grant or H.P. Ritchie Co. based in Toronto.

A similar patch can be found on this excellent website https://1stcanparamuseum.com/media-g.../badge-archive

I'd value any opinion on this badge not being too familiar with Canadian badges (my main focus is on British Airborne).

A good example of the Canadian variant and very hard to find.
Here is another to compare.

Thanks Roy. Much appreciated.
Do you confirm these Pegasus were issued in the summer of 1945 for a short period of time before the Battalion was disbanded? I'm not sure if Pegasus patches continued to be worn after in the Canadian Army.

That is correct.

great to see these Canadian paggies, only recently discovered they existed

To me it looks to be the same as one that was declared a fake in a previous thread, which I can no longer find.

I appreciate your contributions.
Marc, can you substantiate your opinion?
Any other views are welcome.

It is not my opinion that it is fake, just that it does resemble the one in a previous thread that was declared to be a fake. Which I can no longer find.

Marc

Found it, but the images have disappeared.

This is the example discussed in the other thread and I agree it's bad.
It's still for sale at WD Militaria.

My mistake, images are similar but not the same.

I emailed him to let him know it was fake. He disagrees though.

Indeed, this badge has nothing to do with the Canadian made Pegasus patch. I would say it is a bad attempt to copy a British embroidered version of the patch. However private purchase versions are numerous and it is difficult to provide a definitive opinion on some of them.

Thanks always learning.

Attached is another example which I think is identical to the images in the first post. Unfortunately, glue residue on mine. It was reassuring to see the similar examples in Joyce's Into the Maelstrom. It gives the variant some "cred".
