4th Otago Regiment badge
 

Hi

Can any one tell me when this badge was worn and why it is so different to the usual 4th Otagp Regiment badge with a kiwi surrounded by fern leaves?

I am no expert by any means, but isn't this the 4th Battalion Otago Rifles (1904-1911), the forerunner of the 14th (South Otago Rifles) Regiment?

agree,

Laurie Osborne who knows a bit about badges had one of these and in his experience he had only ever seen 2 of these - this makes 3

very unusual and in mint condition
