Can forum please advise what 1and2 are used for? And if the rest are genuine or fake, many thanks.

The Life Guards is fake.

I’d need closer pics to be 100% but the Glider Pilot Regiment badge appears to not be from the original die. The HG badge is highly likely to be the Martin Marsh fake.

As Andy has already said the EviiiR LG badge is fake, in enamel it’s likely fantasy too.

Not my thing but I think the VTC is OK. I’m sure TWGB will be able to confirm.

Alan recently showed a RSG of similar construction albeit looped https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...hlight=Harland at a guess I’d say it’s an officers pouch badge but again not my thing.

Thanks for info, l am more interested why the glider badge has screw and bolt fixings, was it part of a car mascot badge.

Luke H 08-12-20 06:38 PM

With repros they do all sorts of things regards their manufacture method and fixings. Often simply creating a novelty a collector will buy as a curio and ask questions later, or an item that will appeal to the uninformed, or it’s just the product of a method that suited the manufacturers.

Sometimes its done to deceive but sometimes not and origins/use are overt as not being period but novelty, and so on. A car badge is a possibility. It may also be an attempt at an officer’s PBP etc.

Could you please post a pic of the parachute badge, green backing top right?

Thanks,

Mark

The skull and crossbones looks like a 21st Panzer collar badge.

I think it’s probably a Martin marsh copy!

Mark McClelland-Jones 08-12-20 08:10 PM

Thank you, Pembird. I had something else parachutist badge-related in mind. Now I've seen the whole picture, how wrong I was!

Where you thinking South African? Wings?

MarkGD 08-12-20 08:15 PM

Any chance of a pic of the signals badges? Regards Mark

Mark McClelland-Jones 08-12-20 08:34 PM

Not S.A. Billy - thought it might be a RIFLES No1/2's Dress type with silver embroidery. Not that I've seen one and probably elusive as the gold embroidered RGJ one. Both on my wish list :D
