50's Signaller qualification...in metal?

Hello! I have seen this picture (Germany, 1957) and I was wondering if the signaller qualification badge of this Buff corporal is metallic...in the photo it looks like...but I though that metallic qualification badges were from WWI era...that postwar were embroidered...Opinions? Thank you!

The metal crossed flags were smaller than the cloth versions (pre 1960 pattern) worn on Battle Dress. Also it was the practice in some units to 'blanco' rank and trade badges. It looks like the Corporal has whitened his stripes and possibly his signaller badge.

What an interesting info!...and what a nice signaller collection you have! ...so actually the cloth badges are the same size than metallic, but before1960 were bigger...right?

When No2 Dress was introduced in the early 1960s most cloth rank, trade and skill at arms badges were issued in a reduced format two thirds of the size of badges worn on Battle Dress. The Household Division retained the larger size. The new badges were catalogued as 1960 pattern.

More crossed flag badges below and other examples in both cloth and metal in my album:

Thanks again for the info...and for show me your collection...the signaller qualification badge is (IMO) the most beauty of all (with the exception of the commando dagger on a black triangle...that's really cool too!)

Can you tell me the measure of the pre 60's cloth badges? I am searching for one and don't know how big or small it must be..

If you don't mind of course!
