Who would have worn this Royal Welsh Fusiliers White Metal Cap Badge Please??
They seem to have had several TA Btns but cannot find a Volunteer force?.
Would any of the TA's have worn an all WM Badge please?
Or is it possibly a Bandsman's.
TY

Very nice, worn by members of the Militia battalions prior to the formation of the Territorial Force in 1908.

Prior to WW1 many TF battalions had al w/m badges for their No 1 Dress caps. This is a contender for one of these.

It is often quite difficult to make out exactly what is being worn upon Forage caps, but, the regiment certainly did wear the white metal cap badges upon them.

If you plan on using the Forum membership to identify, date, or collect information to enhance the desirability of an item that you intend to sell, then please say so in your first post on the subject.

Now on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274825611...a548%7Ciid%3A1

Just realised the badge (and several other on your eBay) are from Lot 150 at the last C&T auction... are you a dealer?

I am getting a collection together with my 8 year old grandson for him to inherit. He has over 80 so far.
So I buy Job lots and he decides which badges he likes for his collection, and I sell on some of the others on Ebay to raise money to get the others that he likes.
I have just entered several lots amounting to over 200 assorted badges that he didnt want into my local Auction House for an up coming militaria Auction.
If anyone is interested in any of the badges I put on, they can PM me and if Fin doesnt want it then I will sell on this site.
I have sold several badges to members on here who have asked if it is available.

You’re a very generous grandfather to buy C&T lots for £150 plus fees to pass on just one or two badges as having watched your eBay the last couple weeks every badge from that lot has sold or is listed bar perhaps 2 or 3.

Kind of you to say I'm generous.
it is totally a hobby for me, I dont make a profit on much as you say, C&T and all other Auction fees make it hard.
I used to sell Antiques at Fairs for 15 years and gave it up a few years ago and do this to give me something to do now I've retired. My Grandson Fin took an interest in Badges so we learn together as we get his collection together.
I am not a Dealer. I do get a profit sometimes on certain badges but very rarely, as you must see as you follow my Ebay so closely. I put a certain amount of money into a pot when I sold off my Antique stock to cover this, and believe me it is less now than when I started.
So if I intend to sell anything I put on in future I will clearly state so in my Post.

Perhaps or perhaps not, it didn’t sell.

Frank Kelley 22-06-21 07:18 AM

I think it would be possible to find an example for less than that despite the quite high prices being so often sought these days.
