Thanks for showing the resealed Black Watch badge.

Would it be possible for you to post some images of just the tag - obverse and reverse.

Many Thanks!

Chris

Hi Ron,

Thanks but was more interested in the paper type part which has all the writing on. The lead seal is interesting too though.

Chris

Hi Ron,

Thanks for posting these.

It looks like the same dies were probably used for the 'New Metal' item as used on the resealed badge here. The two mounted parts are certainly the same and the obverse of the 'star' is the same too. The reverse of the star may be different though as it is difficult to pick out specific flaws to reconcile with the modern piece that I have.

The badges I am comparing are those on the pattern tag and a modern officers piece.

Regards,

Chris

Chris, as you say the overlays are the same but the stars are different.
Here is another version, the gilt is bright and burnished and the star is frosted silver plate. Scratched with a needle on the reverse, Perth 18-10-89.

Hi Ron,

Here are some images of a modern piece. I believe the two mounted parts are as per the resealed pattern and the obverse of the star the same.

Regards,

Chris
